Lotus Learning Center; a Home Away From Home treasure in Augusta, Maine!

Lotus Learning Center

Welcome to Lotus Learning Center!

Whether you live or work in Maine’s Capital City of Augusta or are planning a visit, the redevelopment of the riverfront and downtown is significant. With new businesses thriving, a plethora of popular museum destinations, the University of Maine campus, and a strong presence of state government agencies, there is always something happening in Augusta!

If you are planning a family celebration or need to find an Augusta venue to host your next business meeting, training workshop, or class, let me introduce you to Lotus Learning Center. Located at 11 King Street, in Augusta, this family-owned and operated establishment welcomes the chance to host your event.

With a “Great Room” that measures approximately 1,200sq feet, Lotus Learning Center can easily accommodate 50+ people. There is access to a small kitchenette and there is even a large outdoor area available. Their services are offered with quality tables and comfortable chairs and the proprietor is always willing to entertain special requests.

I experienced everything Lotus Learning Center offers thanks to New Ventures Maine. I enrolled in a 60-hour course in business planning called Venturing Forth: Business Planning for Entrepreneurs. The class covered in-depth topics like understanding your customer, competition, marketing, record keeping, taxes, finances, legal aspects, and more. At the end of the class, we presented our completed business plans. This last class and informal graduation was hosted at Lotus Learning Center.

It was the perfect space to host our event. A welcoming atmosphere and a functional space, our group was able to enjoy a potluck meal with all of the accoutrements and also get some work done. Graduation presentations went off without a hitch and everyone fully enjoyed themselves. We all recognized what a great resource Lotus Learning Center is for Augusta and the surrounding areas.

One notable difference for me: Lotus Learning Center is truly dedicated to it’s community.

Whatever your venue needs may be, this property will deliver and do so with a sense of pride and a desire to support people and businesses in the community. Their commitment is showcased in a simple poster entitled “How to Build Community” that hangs in their “Great Room”. It consists of a list of simple, yet remarkable suggestions to consider, including, these personal favorites:

  • Turn off your tv
  • Know your neighbors
  • Greet people
  • Share what you have
  • Buy from a local merchant
  • Fix it even if you didn’t break it
  • Share your skills

This outline of ways to support and encourage one another is exactly what Lotus Learning Center strives to bring it’s patrons.

Not only do they have event space, they also offer bed and breakfast services at the same location. Their Home Away From Home bed and breakfast can accommodate your every need.
