Making the best out of your small bathroom

When it comes to interior design, most people like to have one, general theme for the whole house. Regardless of that, your bathroom will always differ. Simply put, it is very hard to find something that will go along with the rest of the interior design. Because of that, we prefer making bathrooms a separate entity.

Unlike big bathrooms, which can be turned into real beauties, small bathrooms can be really problematic. This limited space also limits our choices regarding decor. First thing that we have to consider is making the room functional. With this, we have already reduced the available number of options. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop there.

Small rooms oftentimes feel crowded in terms of accessories and hardware which are inside. As a result, people are less likely to notice your walls and more likely to see your cupboard. Similarily, we have to be very picky when it comes to things which we are willing to include. Because of that, we might not get the effect which we are looking for.

These ideas are not only good for managing a small space, but they are trendy at the same time. Let’s check them out!

1. Line your walls with wood
In most countries, using wood in bathrooms is really unusual. This is really ridiculous given all the benefits that wood provides. First of all, we have to mention that wood is actually an eco-friendly material. You might be asking: “Isn’t it bad to chop wood?” Yes, it is. But if you made a bathroom with bricks and cement, you would spend much more natural resources. Having wood in a bathroom is very unusual in the USA. Because of this, it will instantly attract attention. Another thing to mention is that wood reduces mold growth.

2. Add windows to your bathroom

If you have a small bathroom, there are some tricks which you can use to make it bigger. By adding a window to your bathroom, you are effectively increasing it. Whenever you peek outside, this enormous space will trick your mind into believing that you are in a spacious room yourself. Besides that, windows are very hygienic, they help with mold and they add more light to the room making it look even bigger.

3. Utilize every part of the bathroom
The biggest issue with a small bathroom is that there are too many objects inside it, positioned right next to the walls, covering tiles. Due to this, your guests will not notice them. No matter what kind of luxurious hardware you put in the bathroom, these tiles will still be crucial for providing the overall feel. Furthermore, it is much better if there are more exposed tiles, visible to the eyes. This way, an individual will have a feeling that he is in a very spacious room. Of course, there is only so much we can do. First, put shelves on a much higher level. You can even install one just above the door. Remove all excess accessories and place them somewhere else. This way, you can reduce the amount of space necessary for a cupboard. Position certain items in the corners and behind the door.

4. Purchase the entire bathroom
Humans can be very arrogant. We think that we know everything. In this case, we presume that we can pick the best combination for our bathroom. As a result, we tend to purchase combinations that completely make no sense in terms of design and colors. In fact, unless you are very experienced or have a good understanding of interior design, it is best to purchase the entire bathroom in one shop. Do not be shy and ask for assistance. Explain your issue. In fact, if you have the option, seek a professional architect’s advice.

5. Make a distraction
In certain cases, no matter what you do; you will still have too many things inside. As the last resort, you should try and make a distraction. In this case, instead of focusing on the bathroom as a whole, give advantage to one particular piece. A mirror is the best choice. People tend to look for a mirror as soon as they enter the bathroom. If you provide them with something visually appealing, they will most likely neglect the fact that you have limited space in your bathroom.
