I have this bottomless sock basket in my laundry room. As the loads of laundry get processed each day, there are always a half dozen socks or so that get thrown in the basket for closer matching examination later. With 3 kids, each sporting a pair of feet, there are a lot of socks at our house.   I could probably devote an hour of time to matching socks each week. But lately, I’ve had some competition for the glamorous title of Sock Matcher. A subscription box delivery from Sharing Small has gotten my kids attention!

Sharing Small is a subscription box service of awesome new socks. Each month two new pairs of socks featuring the Sharing Small Explorers (two little stick figures) arrive with a matching postcard that showcases their latest adventure. This month they went parachuting and shared their experience about trying something new. The postcard is engaging and gets kids thinking about trying new things even if they are a little bit scary at first. Part of being a Sharing Small Explorer is learning to try new things! My favorite thing about this subscription of kid’s socks is that for each pair you buy (just $10 a month), an additional pair is donated to a child in need.

Seem a little weird to be donating socks? Believe it or not, new socks are one of the most sought after items at children’s charities and foundations, as well as youth, family, and homeless centers. Socks are one of the few clothing items that can’t be donated used. If I think about all the socks my family goes through, I can only imagine how great the need is for others. Sharing Small operates by tallying the amount of socks shipped to subscribers each month and then donates the very same socks to their charitable partners. Depending on each partners needs, these donations are made monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual. Supporting these trusted and reputable charities with a consistent and predicatable donation is made possible with your monthly subscription service.

Sharing Small socks are made from a cotton and spandex blend and come in 3 different sizes to fit children ages 2-12 (and adults who have small feet)! Soft and comfortable, these socks fit well and have an durable elastic cuff. The stick figure designs are cute and the color schemes are vibrant and playful! Surprising my kids with two new pairs of socks that they look forward to unboxing each month is fun. They look forward to finding out about the Sharing Small Explorer’s latest adventure! Believe me, we can use the new socks and the social good we are spreading at the same time is heart-warming too.

You can connect on social media and start GIVING  by getting your own Sharing Small subscription box service started too!

Wonderful project. A bit pricy but I would spend the extra money to share some love.

  3. What a nice idea! Wish a lot of companies would give back like this socks company. There are a lot of disadvantaged people who will benefit. Thanks for sharing.

Buy one give one is a an interesting business model. I remember before Tom’s got popular and then all of a sudden everyone wanted to wear those shoes because it was a “good” cause. Maybe that will happen with this sock company too 🙂

Cute idea. Not sure I’d pay $10 for 2 pairs of socks though, but maybe that’s because I’m on kid 3?
