Make Your Own Taco Seasoning!

Am I the only one that gets tired of making big plans for Mexican night only to be left hanging without the taco seasoning? I always think I’ve got a few of those store bought spice packets stashed in the cupboard. Come to find out I used them last time. Last time this happened, I decided that would indeed be the last time. With some help from various recipes online, I pulled together the primary spices for taco seasoning and came up with my own measurements to make what I think is an awesome replacement for those taco pouches from the store. I’d much rather know exactly what is in my taco seasoning and I can make bigger portions to store in an airtight container for future fiestas!

Homemade Taco Seasoning can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for later! No more running out of that must-have Mexican Night ingredient for tacos or dips!
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1½ tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  1. In a small bowl, mix all of the spices together. Store any used seasoning in an airtight container. These measurements will make 1 oz of seasoning and work well with 1lb of ground beef for tacos.
