It’s that time of year…with the up and down weather and the battle about wearing appropriate clothing outside…inevitably one or more of my kids succumb to the onslaught of germs…in school, on the bus, on the playground, and at daycare.
While we can’t avoid all these germs and viruses, we can at least help alleviate some of the miserable symptoms that accompany those coughs, colds, and the congestion.
I’m not a good pill taker. I tend to gravitate to more natural remedies for myself and my children. But,while a cup of hot tea has innumerable health benefits, sometimes it’s just not enough to really make me or the kids feel better. Yet, I hesitate to whip out the arsenal of over the counter medicines comprised of things I can hardly pronounce. Instead, I look for all-natural alternatives like Maty’s products
that are made from the purest ingredients and contain things I recognize, like buckwheat honey, apple cider, vinegar, lemon, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and marjoram, to name a few.
I recently had the opportunity to try Maty’s pediatrician recommended kid’s all natural cough syrup. My daughter came home with a suspicious cough one afternoon and by bedtime it had progressed to a congested mess. I gave her a teaspoon at bed, hoping to ease her cough and make breathing easier…and hoping for uninterrupted sleep (for her and thus, me).
She loved the Caramel Banana flavor…and I loved that she slept straight through the night. The next morning, she was still mildly congested, but her cough seemed less severe. I gave her another teaspoon with breakfast and figured a low-key day in pajamas would be the plan. Boy, was I wrong. By lunchtime, the cough was almost nonexistent and the congestion was cleared…she was ready to run, jump, and play outside! I continued to give her doses every four hours for the next 24 hours, just to be sure we were on the mend. This was one of the easiest cough, cold, congestion bouts we’d ever had.
